SERVICE GROUPS

CL Artisians
CL Artisians create ecclesiastical artwork for the church. Examples are flags, banners, altar linens, and chrismons. The creative design and artwork are done to the glory of God, without fanfare or publication.
Card Care Ministry
A group of Christ Lutheran volunteers who send cards of caring to their fellow members. This is a wonderful and easy way to spread Our Lord’s work through our congregation.
CROPWalk
CROPWalkChurch World Service CROPWalk is supported yearly through monetary donations as well as walkers who participate in the Porter County walk for hunger needs each fall. Adults, youth and families are encouraged to take part. CROPWalk support is sponsored by our Social Ministry and Missions Committee.
Fair Trade Ministry

Fair Trade Ministry works to raise awareness in the congregation by offering Fair Trade items for sale and information about the importance of Fair Trade. A Lutheran World Relief Coffee Project tasting was held offering congregation members a chance to sample four different kinds of coffee. Those coffees are regularly available for purchase.

Lutheran World Relief Quilters
quilters and apprentice-quilters from several congregations gather regularly on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. for sewing in the Church Hall. At 11:00 a.m. the Quilters take a short "break" for prayer and devotions. Many bring a sack lunch and work into the afternoon. In addition to CLC quilters, several come from Immanuel (LCMS) in Valpo and Cross of Christ (ELCA) in Lake of Four Seasons.
LWR Layettes
Congregation volunteers work on making and assembling layettes for Lutheran World Relief. Throughout the year items are collected, made or bought to enable this group to make as many layettes as possible.
Meals Ministry
Many gracious volunteers prepare and deliver meals as needed to those recovering from illness, surgery or the birth of a child. When called upon, our Funeral Ministry volunteers direct and serve funeral luncheons on behalf of bereaved families.
Men's Shelter Coalition
Christ Lutheran has served as a host site for the Men's Homeless Coalition over the summer months. Volunteers help staff the shelter site from April 15th to October 15th. During the wiinter months, Christ Lutheran members have been involved in providing meals at other host sites. The Men's Homeless Coalition has a relationship with the New Creation Men's Shelter in Valparaiso.

Prayer Shawl/ Lap Robe
Ministry
Handmade shawls and lap robes are lovingly and prayerfully created within this special ministry, conveying our congregation's love, support and prayers to each recipient.
The Mail Crew
Consists of volunteers that collate The Good News (our monthly newsletter) and other mailings from the church. The Mail Crew meets on a Tuesday morning (usually the last Tuesday of the month) at 9:30 a.m. in the CLC Conference Room to collate the newsletter.

Rebuilding Together
Each year the Social Ministry Committee hosts a team or two to participate in the Valparaiso Rebuilding Together day, usually held in April.

Refugee One
The Social Ministry Committee supports Refugee One, formerly called Interfaith Immigration and Refugee Ministries, yearly as a monthly emphasis during the month of May. Representatives of IRIM have often visited Christ Lutheran to talk about this ministry. Part of the support for IRIM has included a collection of items for Backpacks for immigrants and/or refugees
