Remember our vicar two years ago? Vicar Natalie. Now it’s Pastor Natalie in Zelienople, PA, and she had a well known request: “Ask me questions.” She would then write pages of detailed responses to questions. She always had soundly based answers cited from biblical history and language, and grounded in systematic theology. I always admired her time and energy to engage the questions.
From time to time pastors get some big questions even if they haven’t requested them. Recently I was asked by preschooler Keegan O’Conner why his infant brother, Liam, had to be baptized since little Liam was not old enough yet to sin. Hmmmmmmm. Where’s Pastor Natalie when I need her?
Here are some other really good questions from children as only children can ask them. How can Jesus fit in my heart? Why did Samson tell Delilah his secret? If we pray for something one night, why do we have to pray for it the next night? How did God decide what was wrong and what was right?
Now actually there is one question that ranks #1 on my list of the most often asked question asked of me. ARE YOU IN YOUR NEW CHURCH YET?
Gratefully I say “yes.”
And thanks to all who have helped—and to all who are still helping.
Since people are asking about our church, let’s be sure to tell them why we have a church and invite them to come.
By the way, in case you haven’t heard, dedication will be on our 40th anniversary weekend. Sunday, September 19.
