MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Foundations (for students in 6 -8th grade )
Foundations is a three year confirmation program which includes 1 year of Old Testament study, 1 year of New Testament study, and one year of Lutheran Catechism. Students meet for large group instruction and then break into small group processing. Foundations meet Wednesday evenings 6:00-7:15 p.m.
Christ Lutheran also has a two year Mentoring ministry starting in the seventh grade. Each child chooses an adult to serve, learn, and accompany them into the life of the church.
Middle School Music Team
Meets each week following Foundations from 7:15 to 8:00 p.m. Students work on short term projects that are presented as a part of our Sunday morning worship experience several times throughout the year. For more information contact Karen Stingely at clcvalpomusic@frontier.com.
Lock-Ins & Special Events

Held at various times throughout the year. Middle School students have 2 lock-in opportunities-one in November and one in February. We also plan for special events, family outings, and service projects about once each quarter. Watch the church newsletter for details about what is coming up!
SUMMER CAMP

Students in grades 6-8 will have the opportunity to join the group for Confirmation Camp at Stony Lake Lutheran Camp in New Era, MI. This experience offers daily group study, a low-ropes challenge course, arts and crafts, swimming, as well as optional programs in horseback riding, high ropes and canoeing. Campers experience Christian community in the great outdoors!
MENTORING PROGRAM FOR 7TH & 8TH GRADERS
Starting in 7th grade students choose an adult from the congregation to accompany them on their journey of faith. The 7th grade students and their mentors meet 5 Wednesdays during Lent with Youth Director Tammy Mason. During this time they explore what it means to be a Christian.
During the 8th grade year students and mentors work through “Way to Live” a book of Christian Practices for teens. The mentor and student work on a project of faith based on the individual teen’s gifts and talents. The student then writes about their experience, and presents it to the congregation during their witness to the church.
(See www.waytolive.org for more information.)
Middle School students are encouraged to serve here at Christ Lutheran in worship, Sunday School, and work projects around church, as well as service in the community.
