MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Foundations

The basis for our ministry to students in grades 6-8. We meet Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:15 for a time of learning and small group activities. Each student experiences small group ministry with one or two adult leaders and 6-7 other teens. We study scripture, look at Luther's Small Catechism and plan occasional events to learn how we can serve God as individuals and as a community.

Middle School Music Team

Meets each week following Foundations from 7:15 to 8:00 p.m. Students work on short term projects that are presented as a part of our Sunday morning worship experience several times throughout the year. For more information contact Susan Brown at musicalsusan@hotmail.com.

Lock-Ins and Special Events

Held at various times throughout the year. Middle School students have 2 lock-in opportunities-one in November and one in February. We also plan for special events, family outings, and service projects about once each quarter. Watch the church newsletter for details about what is coming up!

Summer Camp

Students in grades 6-8 will have the opportunity to join the group for Confirmation Camp at Stony Lake Lutheran Camp in New Era, MI. This experience offers daily group study, a low-ropes challenge course, arts and crafts, swimming, as well as optional programs in horseback riding, high roopes and canoeing. Campers experience Christian community in the great outdoors! This year’s dates for camp are July 16-21. There is still time to register. Call Tammy at 462-6660 for more details.

Mentoring Ministry

A part of the learning process for Middle School Students. Our 7th grade students meet one on one with a mentor for the 6 Wednesdays in Lent to discuss issues of faith and life. Students select their own mentors and continue working with them through out their years in Foundations. 8th grade students continue meeting with their mentors at their own convenience. Together they begin exploring the practices of the Christian life, hoping to find a more meaningful way to live. (See www.waytolive.org for more information.)

Sunday Mornings

Provide a chance for our middle school students to meet as a large group. We supplement our Foundations material with creative activities, group games, and special projects.
